Katsugi style & goofy tricks
Beschrijving
This masterclass is an unique opportunity to learn from Adam Weiner. Adam Weiner is a recognized taiko player and teacher, bringing in more than three decades of taiko experience. With his YouTube-channel 'Tic Tac Taiko' he gained international acclaim and inspired many, among which Yorokai's trailblazers.
In this masterclass, Adam will share his knowledge and experience of the katsugi style. Starting out by helping fit the drum comfortably on the body, and making sure it’s in a good place for ergonomic technique. He’ll help you stay relaxed while focusing on striking the front head of the okedo with both your right and left hand. There will also be attention spent on moving smoothly between stances. Adam will teach how to move through controlling the drum and by working with the drum, so you have options depending on your needs. You’ll play simple rhythms while understanding how to move as a unit with your okedo.
We'll spice up this workshop with some goofy bachi tricks. Being able to spin, twirl, and flip your bachi is a fun spectacle for the audience, but it is also an amazingly method to develop dexterity, hand and finger strength, grip confidence.
You’ll come away from this workshop with a greater understanding of your striking options, and a strong foundation to build on. You'll be much more comfortable moving around the stage playing with confidence ánd you'll have some goofy tricks in your sleeves!
